FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Want to find out more about Gillen Yacht Service? Where do we service? What services do we provide? Below are some Frequently Asked Questions we relieve from our lifelong customers.

Gillen Yacht Services operates four locations across South Florida. Our headquarters at Harbour Towne Marina in Dania provides haul out for vessels up to 100 tons, with dockage steps away from our fully equipped shop — carpentry, welding, mechanical, and paint booths, plus in-house stocked parts and a special order desk — for efficient service on yachts up to 100 ft.

Our second Fort Lauderdale location, Safe Harbor LMC (Lauderdale Marine Center), is one of the largest repair facilities in the world and our top option for megayacht customers, with haul out capabilities up to 485 tons and a fully equipped on-site shop for the most complex service requests.

In West Palm Beach, Seminole Boatyard offers the same full range of services as our Fort Lauderdale locations, with vessels hauled up to 100 tons, alongside our onsite Ship Store for parts and supplies.

Our newest location, Safe Harbor Rybovich, also in West Palm Beach, puts Gillen technicians on-site at one of the world’s premier superyacht facilities — home to a 660-ton travel lift and 3,000-ton floating dry dock, with secure berths for yachts up to 100 meters (330 ft). It is our go-to location for the largest and most complex superyacht projects on Florida’s east coast.

Gillen Yacht Services is licensed and insured to service yachts at any marina, marina slip, or private dock throughout South Florida, including Broward and Palm Beach counties. For the most cost-effective servicing, we recommend one of our four marina locations, where dockage sits just steps from our shop and parts center, cutting out the back-and-forth trips that slow down complex jobs.

Our fleet of specialty service vans, fully loaded with tools and equipment, can also come to your yacht wherever it is docked, including behind your home. For customers cruising the Caribbean or the East Coast, our company aircraft carries parts and technicians to you directly, wherever your vessel may be.

Our specialty vans are equipped to perform services at your dock, behind your home, or at one of the south Florida marinas. And if traveling to a remote location, we are prepared to fly to you with parts and technicians in one of our two company aircraft.

Most vessels schedule routine yard periods on an annual basis for haul-outs and maintenance. Our experienced staff can assist you with advice on how to maximize your yard period.

So many times it is very difficult to find experienced technicians and parts in remote locations to perform service on your vessel. Customers are often surprised to learn how cost-effective it can be to have one of the Gillen aircraft arrive with the parts, tools, and technicians to get the job done. We are experts at knowing customs and requirements for flying in and working in the Caribbean. When getting back on the water or completing that important charter is important – you can rely on Gillen Yacht Services to make it happen.

Yes, Gillen Yacht Services represents the full Delta T product line including fire dampers for A60 class vessels. We design, install, repair, and service the Delta T fire damper, engine room ventilation, and moisture eliminators. With our strong relationship with Delta T, the premium supplier of ventilation products, we have the ability to access the Delta T archives which provide the detailed information on Delta T systems when installed during the original boat build. This allows for a fast and more cost-effective solution to get your engine room back to safe operational parameters which protects and extends the life of your equipment – while improving overall performance.

Our team has technicians which are certified and factory-trained to provide quality service in all areas of yacht systems from service to new installs. Our customers’ vessels range in size and complexity. While over the years we have seen the sizes of boats grow – we have not forgotten what got us here. For years the smaller vessels were our primary customers. While we primarily provide services for larger vessels as part of our full-service capabilities, we often handle our customers’ dingys and specialized tenders.

Absolutely, we have a good history working with marine insurance and adjusters to get your vessel back on the water. Whether it be an electrical issue resulting from a lightning strike to a catastrophic yacht sinking, we are prepared to work with you and your adjuster to get you back up and running.

Gillen Yacht Services works with brokers and boat surveyors to perform the detailed mechanical system surveys associated with engines and generators. Oil samples and testing both at the dock and during sea trials provide the owners with an analysis of how mechanical systems are performing and have been maintained. Due to our full-service capabilities, we are often able to assist both potential buyers and brokers in estimating costs associated with deficiencies identified during surveys.
