We’re pleased to announce the promotion of Charles Robb to Service Manager at our Safe Harbor Lauderdale Marine Center (LMC) location—a key hub for servicing large yachts.
Charles has been a valued member of the Gillen Yacht Services (GYS) team for over three years. He began his tenure at our Harbor Town Marina in Dania Beach, focusing on vessels under 100 feet. Over time, Charles consistently showed strong dedication to technical excellence and customer satisfaction. As a result, he became the natural choice to lead our LMC service operations.
Before joining GYS, Charles spent 19 years at Georgetown Yacht Basin in Maryland. There, he advanced from the parts department to yard and service management. During that time, he gained hands-on experience with various vessels. In particular, he developed specialized knowledge in servicing and managing complex catamarans. Originally from Chicago, Charles moved to Maryland in 2000 to pursue new opportunities. Meanwhile, his upbringing in a family-owned telecommunications business kept him deeply connected to the world of technology. This early exposure provided him with a strong foundation in systems thinking and problem-solving—skills he applies to every project today.
In his new Service Manager role, Charles will oversee a highly skilled team of mechanics, HVAC technicians, fabricators, and a parts manager. He also coordinates with our renowned fiberglass and paint crew in Dania. His leadership supports some of the most complex yacht service projects in the industry today.
New Service Manager leading with his technical knowledge

Charles continues to build on his technical knowledge with certifications in Side-Power, ABT-TRAC, Wesmar, and Dockmate systems. He has embraced the shift to larger yachts and their increasingly sophisticated systems. He notes that, “I love the challenges of the large yacht market. Having access to technical mentorship from Dave Sr. has been invaluable, especially in gaining insight into the unique needs of classed yachts.”
Reflecting on the team, Charles adds, “What I appreciate most is how everyone rallies together. This crew stands out not just for their top-tier technical skill, but for their teamwork and shared commitment to getting the job done.”
Gillen Yacht Services CEO Dave Gillen remarked, “We’re thrilled to welcome Charles as the new Service Manager at our Safe Harbor Lauderdale Marine Center location. Over the past three years, I worked closely with him. As a result, I witnessed his growing expertise in large yacht systems. He brings a rare combination of technical depth, leadership, and customer service.”
Please join us in congratulating Charles Robb on this well-deserved promotion. We’re excited to see the continued impact he will make at Safe Harbour Lauderdale Marine Center. We look forward to seeing his impact in supporting the needs of our yacht owners, captains, and management companies.
